"5 questions to...a member of the service staff"

[Back to overview]

Mrs. Hölzel, how long have you been working for medizinplus now?

I have been working in the Nurember Clinic now for 25 years – most recently in the clinic service department. I have been with medizinplus since 1 st March 2004.

Please describe for us, from your own point of view, a day in the medizinplus Private Clinic.

The work at medizinplus is always very varied, and there is always plenty to do. I usually work the early shift. This begins at six o’clock in the morning and lasts until shortly after two. In the mornings I begin by putting together the menus for the day, and then making up orders and bills. Then I look after the breakfast for our patients, and take their orders for lunch and dinner.

During the time until I serve lunch to the patients, I take care of a lot of other things: I check whether the rooms are ready for new patients, admit new patients, show them their rooms, check out patients who are being discharged and if necessary escort them to their taxi. Some patients or visitors want particular newspapers or periodicals, so I get them for them. If a patient or one of their family members wants to go to the opera for example, I then organise the tickets, provided of course there’s no medical reason against it.

What makes the work at the Private Clinic different from your previous job?

It’s really impossible to compare the two jobs. What I particularly like about the work with medizinplus however is the direct contact with lots of new people, and the personal and familiar atmosphere here.

What do you do to relax from your job?

To switch off, I like to watch cooking or gardening programmes for example. Then I can relax properly, and at the same time get plenty of interesting tips and suggestions – such as on the subject of decoration. And later I make use of some of these suggestions either at home or in my work at medizinplus.

If you had one wish left, what would you wish for ?

My main hobby is in principle everything to do with gardening, floristry and decoration. It would naturally be wonderful to have my own business in this field!
