The skin clinic has 99 beds, including 19 for day-patients.

Focal aspects of the clinic

• Allergic diseases (e.g. eczema, also occupational diseases, chronic urticaria, insect allergies, food allergies, etc.)
• Psoriasis and neurodermatitis, treated in particular in the day clinic.
• Diagnosis and therapy of skin tumours, melanomas, carcinomas, basiloma.
  Surgery as part of tumour therapy with plastic reconstruction; for melanoma also including the sentinel lymph node.
• Nuremberg skin clinic is the only German skin clinic to be taking part in an international multi-centre study on the role of the sentinel lymph node in patients suffering with melanomas, organised by the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica (USA).
• Diagnosis and therapy of venous insufficiency and leg ulceration. Here the clinic has developed a surgical technique to treat otherwise "hopeless" ulceration.
• Emphasis on "diabetic foot" as a quality management project in the clinic, offering all diagnostic and therapeutic facets.
• Immune diseases such as erythematosus, blistering diseases, etc.

The clinic is equipped with

• "Allergy laboratory" for epicutaneous testing according to the IVDK guidelines. Also with highly specific urticaria diagnosis, diagnosis to clarify allergies to drugs, pollen, dust and insect gift. All conventional therapy methods are offered.
• Dermatology laboratory for specific allergology diagnosis (e.g. specific immunoglubolin), melanoma diagnosis (S-100 protein) together with highly qualified, specified mycological diagnosis.
• Outpatient laser therapy clinic with 4 top quality laser units for many different applications, such as:
• Argon laser for treating vascular disorders in the skin
• CO2 laser and erbium YAG laser for treating superficial skin changes, particularly preliminary stages of skin cancer
• Diode laser for treating excessive body hair growth and vascular disorders

Diagnosis

We offer a wide range of different kinds of examinations for different forms of skin disease. Attention is paid in particular to the following diseases:

• Eczemas (e.g. neurodermatitis, contact eczema)
  Testing all the possible causes
• Psoriasis
  Search for the triggering factors
• Allergies such as urticaria, allergies to drugs and food
  – allergy testing, search for the causes
• Diagnosis of hay fever and insect poison allergies
• Skin tumours including basilomas, spinalioma, many years of experience enhance diagnostic accuracy
• Early detection and treatment for black skin cancer (malignant melanomas). One new patient every day trains the expert's eye and results in diagnostic certainty.
• Venous insufficiency and leg ulceration
  Ultrasonic scans are a prerequisite for specific therapy
• Environmental diseases
  Complex diseases demand complex examinations
• Sexually transferred diseases
  All necessary examinations to identify the pathogens
• Alopecia
  Hair status and general examination as basis for successful treatment

  Hyposensitisation of all kinds, particularly for insect poison allergies

• Tap water iontophoresis for increased perspiration at the hands and feet and for certain forms of eczema
