Services

Medical Clinic 4 works in association with the Faculty of Nephrology and Hypertensiology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. It looks after patients with the full range of internal diseases, concentrating especially on kidney disease and high blood pressure.

• Diagnosis and therapy of all forms of kidney disease and high blood pressure
• Treatment of conditions caused by renal insufficiency
• Preparation and implementation of kidney replacement therapy in the form of peritoneal or haemo dialysis
• Preparation and aftercare of patients before and after kidney transplants and kidney/pancreas transplants.
• Treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2 and the resulting late effects (diabetic nephropathy, diabetic foot syndrome) and is a certified treatment facility acknowledged by the Deutschen Diabetes-Gesellschaft (DDG – German Diabetes Society).
• Own intensive care unit with 14 beds.
  Focus on: treating multiple organ failure, sepsis and acute kidney failure. North Bavarian regional centre in the sepsis network "SepNet".

• Dialysis department with 20 beds:
  More than 12,000 haemo dialysis procedures for patients admitted and partially admitted to the hospital, all methods for extracorporeal kidney replacement therapy (haemo dialysis, haemo-filtration, haemo-diafiltration) together with lipid apharesis for patients with metabolic disorders and plasma replacement treatment.
